Sign language / BOOKING GUIDE

American Sign Language (ASL)

American Sign Language is a natural language with its own grammar. It is distinct from English and from British Sign Language. For an agency, an ASL request should therefore identify both the signed language and the other language needed for the assignment.

Make the request specific.

An appointment labelled “English, video” does not tell a coordinator that ASL is required. Record ASL explicitly, the interpreting direction, session duration, video or on-site delivery, and any preparation material before assigning the interpreter.

Details to confirm before assignment

  • Requested ASL language pair
  • Video visibility and participant needs
  • Interpreter qualifications for the setting

Is ASL the same as English in signs?

No. ASL has its own linguistic structure. Record the actual language pair rather than treating an English-speaking interpreter as an ASL interpreter.

Connect this language to your agency workflow

In MigiHub, your organization can configure its service-language catalogue to match its own offering. Keep clear customer-facing labels in the booking process, then coordinate availability and assignments with your operational rules. A reference code is a useful identifier; it does not verify a professional’s competence or guarantee that a service is available.

The planning questions on this page are editorial guidance for agencies. Review the requirements with the consumer and the professionals involved, and confirm which modules and configuration your organization needs.

TWO DIFFERENT LANGUAGE CHOICES

The language of the service.
The language of the workspace.

Your service-language catalogue

Configure the spoken and sign-language services your business offers, including the names and varieties your customers need. Those configured choices can be available to consumers during booking. Your catalogue can include languages beyond this reference selection.

60+ interface languages

Display languages help your team use the app in its own language. They do not define which interpreting services your agency offers. Local and automatic timezone options support teams working across locations.
